Going through the comprehensive wellness planning process will help you navigate through the greater world of wellness services by helping you define and targeting those areas of your wellbeing that could most benefit you.
My name is Vaishali (pronounced Vy-sha-lee) Patel and I want to serve your wellbeing.
I genuinely believe that by helping you improve your life experience, your presence and positive energy will create a ripple effect that ultimately improves the lives of people around you and the world.
I will work with you to find the best strategies to help you tune into your life and tap into proven techniques to help you move forward no matter the challenge. I provide support specific to particular challenges or issues you might be facing and proactive counselling on how to improve your life, and prevent from these issues from occurring or bringing you down in the future.
Connection with Wellness
I received my Master’s Degree in Community Counseling at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro (UNCG). While attending the UNCG program, I had the opportunity to take a course taught by professor Jane Myers, a distinguished expert in the field of counseling and wellness. It was through her course that I developed a deeper understanding of wellness, and the value of a proactive, preventative approach to optimizing your well-being. The Inner Engineering program I recently took with Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has further helped me expand on my personal sense of wellbeing. Incorporating the daily practices learned through Inner Engineering has clarified and fortified my ability to assist others in improving their wellbeing as well.
I have been consistently praised throughout my career by colleagues and clients for my ability to quickly build rapport with clients, which is essential in developing a healing environment. I hope to help do the same for you as I carry out my career mission.

I can help you work towards optimized wellbeing in several ways based on your current needs and resources.
The Wellness Planning Workshops are designed to help people who are healthy yet want to be proactive in achieving higher well being. The format will be a series of four weekly one hour long workshops designed to guide you to creating your own wellness plan. The workshops will hold up to eight participants. The workshops will include lectures, interactive discussions, and assignments.
These workshops use the Indivisible Self Model of Wellness, and will help individuals find ways to improve overall wellness by finding and “tweaking” behaviors or habits that might be stunting forward movement.
In the workshops you will determine which areas of your wellness could benefit with improvement, how ready you are to change behaviors or habits in the target areas, and how to move forward in your change process.
I am a client-centered therapist, and use the Wellness Approach (working with what is right, instead of what is wrong) when providing psychotherapy. I regularly use the Indivisible Self Model of Wellness, the Five Factor Wellness Inventory, and wellness planning techniques to help you move forward in your overall life experience. Other approaches I draw from include but are not limited to cognitive behavioral, existential, and solution focused theories of psychotherapy.
Experience & Credentials
I am registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I also hold certification with The Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I have been counselling since 2003, and worked in the field of Employee Assistance Programming (EAP) for more than six of those years, gaining experience and a greater understanding of the importance of work life balance, and overall wellness of individuals.
Individual Therapy Sessions
Psychotherapy provides one on one support in private sessions. Each session will be 50 minutes in length and will occur generally weekly or biweekly. This option is ideal for you if you are dealing with particular issues or concerns that are hindering you from your forward movement to wellness. The sessions will provide you with a safe confidential space to discuss your life, and work through the difficulties you are experiencing. In session, I will provide you with perspective and feedback regarding your experience, providing a new light to your circumstance.
The goal of one on one sessions are to provide you with alternative approaches to your experiences which will make you more self aware, independent, and a better problem solver.
Along with the fundamental offerings of psychotherapy, I will also integrate the Wellness Planning Process in sessions. With this integration, your healing will be two-fold. Along with being able to find resolution to your specific concerns, you will also be working on improving your overall sense of well-being. This reactive plus proactive approach to psychotherapy will further help you develop your defenses from stressors and issues in the future.
I work in alliance with Registered Psychologist Dr. Jon Mills. If you are covered under extended healthcare for psychological services, it is likely that all or part of your fees will be covered to see me for individual sessions.
Self-help Wellness Planning Package
For those of you who would like to work on creating your personalized wellness plan on your own, the Self Help Wellness Planning Package will fit your needs. Not everyone feels open enough to discuss their wellness path with someone else, or works better on his or her own. Having this package will allow you to work through the process at your own pace, without the expectation of being available for appointments or meeting times. If you do need additional support however, you can book an appointment with me at any time.
The self help package also uses the Indivisible Self Model of Wellness, and will help individuals find ways to improve You are given the tools to determine which areas of your wellness could benefit with improvement, how ready you are to change behaviors or habits in the target areas, and how to move forward in your change process.
This package provides you with all the resources used in the Wellness Planning Process without additional consultation.
