Dr. Makoto strongly believes that prevention and health optimization are the cornerstones to individual wellness and long-term health.
Dr. Makoto Trotter, ND is a licensed naturopathic doctor and the proud father of two young children. He is also the author of two health books explaining and addressing leaky gut syndrome and acne. He graduated on the Dean’s Honours List with an Honours Biochemistry-Biotechnology degree from the University of Waterloo, with work experience in the field of molecular biology at biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.
Subsequent to this, he continued his journey to become a naturopathic doctor, graduating summa cum laude from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. He is licensed in Ontario by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario and is a peer review board member of Integrated Healthcare Practitioners publication.
Makoto has always been passionate about holistic medicine and strives to share his knowledge with others. He is dedicated to educating his patients to understand and maintain a healthier lifestyle, using realistic means and a rationale approach.
Dr. Makoto has a special interest in digestion and hormone conditions. He has experience treating irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis) along with chronic undiagnosed problems such as constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating and heartburn.

Testing for food allergies is an integral first step to identifying aggravating foods in your diet, followed by naturopathic treatment to strengthen and support the digestive tract.
With respect to hormones, Dr. Makoto is eager to help women and men rectify imbalances in their hormone levels to assist with their libido, menopausal symptoms, menstrual irregularities, thyroid conditions, mood, energy and chronic fatigue. Individual treatment options can include lifestyle changes, diet modifications, herbal medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy and bio-identical hormone therapy.
Dr. Makoto works with Dr. Aileen Lim-Trotter, ND in researching skin conditions. His extensive knowledge of hormones and digestion provides a well-informed approach to treating skin conditions and he has a lot of experience in successfully treating adult and childhood (infant, toddler, pre-teen, teen) eczema, rosacea, psoriasis and acne.
Dr. Makoto also sees pediatric patients in his practice and can provide a Well Child Visit, discuss food introduction for your baby, and facilitate natural approaches to ailments affecting your child.
