Colin Baird, RMT
Registered Massage Therapist
I have been an RMT since 2013 and studied at one of the leading massage schools in the country, Sutherland-Chan School & Teaching Clinic. My experience as a varsity athlete and Kinesiology graduate have not only encouraged my interest in the obvious benefits of manual therapy, but also into the importance of motivating people to be more mindful and proactive with their health and their wellness.
I use a variety of techniques in my practice which include instrument-assisted soft tissue manipulation, kinesio-taping, joint play, myofascial release, cranial sacral inspired techniques, deep tissue treatments, and muscle energy techniques. I also challenge my clients with self-care and hydrotherapy, and to become more aware of how they use their bodies on a daily basis.
My philosophy is that I believe people need to be more involved in their own health and wellness.
We live in a society that believes a lot in band-aid solutions and quick fixes, but it is important to remember that we have one body, and the choices we make everyday will determine how long, and how well that body will work.
My practice, Local Fix Clinic, embodies this philosophy and is trying to shift people’s perceptions of massage therapy from not just a relaxation treatment that makes us feel good, but a treatment for the whole person, including the mind and the body.
My approach is straightforward. It first involves assessing the cause of the impairment.
Whether it be an acute injury or chronic pain, my goal is to understand what is causing the problem.
From there we can look at treating the involved structures and educating you, the client, about the source(s) of your pain. I believe that this helps to motivate people to become more involved in their own wellness and to encourage change. Any benefits from manual therapy, not just massage, are transient, meaning they will not last forever. Knowledge is key, so be present and come with a goal in mind. Let’s figure out how to make you feel better, and make it last.

Massage Therapy involves the direct manipulation of soft tissue, joints and the humoral system of the body. Where most people see massage as only a vehicle for relaxation, its scope is greater than that and it can affect many physiological changes within the body to restore balance, both physically and emotionally. It is proven that massage therapy can be a great ally in a person’s health care regimen and can help a person to achieve the following results:
Please note that first time clients are required to fill out a consent to massage treatment form prior to their massage. Please allow for a few extra minutes to fill this out and to discuss your massage therapy goals. This will allow us to create a better treatment plan for you and use our time more efficiently.
