Telehealth Clinic
Optimize your health via Telehealth consults
Telehealth is a system of healthcare that uses telecommunications via phone or video calls. During a telehealth appointment, our licensed naturopathic doctor, Dr.Makoto Trotter, ND, will consult with you to assess and optimize your health at a distance.
Effectively, Telehealth is provided to you from the comfort and safety of your home. This can be beneficial when you are isolated (such as during the COVID-19 pandemic), have mobility issues, social anxiety or chronic pain.
Our naturopathic doctor uses naturopathic methods to guide you in addressing your health concerns. Dr.Trotter, ND, is trained to recognize red flags that would require you to be referred out for urgent care, if required.
Naturopaths have extensive training to help you incorporate diet and lifestyle changes, supportive nutrition, stress management, nutrient therapy and herbal medicine to target your health concerns naturally.
Our scheduling software, Jane, has a secure, encrypted video communication module to interact with patients. Generally speaking, this is our primary method of connecting to patients for a video consult.
The telemedicine platform that we use is through Jane, our scheduling system. To ensure your privacy, the video call is secure and encrypted. Essentially, all you have to do is log into your patient profile in Jane before your appointment and click on the video call button beside your appointment.
You can connect to us directly via the Jane system with your Android phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer (MacOS & Windows compatible).
**Note: For iPhone/iPad compatibility, Jane’s video conference system requires you to download their free app: Jane Online Appointments . **
Naturopathic services are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) or provincial healthcare plans.
However, the majority of extended healthcare insurance policies do provide full or partial coverage for treatment by Naturopathic Doctors. Telehealth naturopathic appointments are covered by the majority of plans that cover naturopathic appointments.
Contact your employer or private insurance agent to determine the extent of your coverage for naturopathic care. Additionally, for most insurance providers (those applicable are listed here) we do provide direct billing.
We recommend e-transfers as an efficient method of payment, but also accept Visa or Mastercard over the phone.
We can also bill your extended health insurance plan, if applicable. If there is a remaining balance, it can be paid by e-transfer or credit card.
We are always here to support you in your health goals and we will continue to be here for you. We are paying close attention to the current dynamic state of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We remain open to assist you with your health and are continuing to see patients via telehealth, including new patients.
We have limited the days when we accept in-person appointments to Wednesdays & Saturdays only. This is to balance the risk of exposure for patients, practitioners and staff with our patients’ continuing need for quality care.
Should you experience any symptoms that may suggest a COVID-19 infection — or are concerned you may have been exposed to COVID-19 — within 2 weeks leading up to your scheduled appointment, we ask that you contact the clinic immediately to discuss options for your appointment. We would be glad to change your in-person appointment to a telehealth appointment or help you to re-schedule it.
Our online scheduling system allows you to easily book your telehealth appointment — it is also the portal to connect you to our naturopathic doctor when it is time for your appointment. Of course, you can call us to assist you or you can book your appointment here.
