What is gut microbial DNA analysis?
Gut microbial DNA analysis – or GI360 testing – utilizes a mix of state-of-the-art lab techniques to analyse the microbial DNA present in a stool sample to determine the presence and status of bacteria, yeasts, viruses, pathogens and parasites that may be contributing to your dysbiosis or chronic illness and to assess the digestive function of your large intestines.
There are three levels of GI360 tests:
- GI360 Profile: “gold” standard
- GI360 Essentials: “silver” standard
- GI360 Microbiome: “bronze” standard
What is the difference between the GI360 test and the GI MAP test?
The GI360 test is offered by Doctors’ Data Labs whereas the GI MAP test is offered by Diagnostic Solutions Labs (DSL). Both tests use polymerase chain reaction technology to analyse DNA in your stool for the presence of bacteria, yeasts, fungi and other parasites.
The GI360 Profile & Essentials test variants also include analysis of stool chemistries and parasitology, offering more value for your money.
The GI MAP test by DSL is only offered in one test variant and is most comparable to the GI360 Microbiome test.
How is GI360 testing different from the Comprehensive Stool Analysis and the Parasitology tests also offered by Doctors’ Data Labs?
The GI360 Profile test includes the Comprehensive Stool Analysis with Parasitology in addition to indepth DNA analysis of your gut microbiome. That’s why we consider it the “gold standard”.
The GI360 Essentials test includes the Parasitology test but not the Comprehensive Stool Analysis.
The GI360 Microbiome only tests for the DNA composition of your microbiome using PCR technology. It does not include any of the Comprehensive Stool Analysis or Parasitology tests.
